What is Breathwork?
Breathwork is a powerful
personal development tool that is the key ingredient in physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual health. This highly personal, experiential modality
incorporates a variety of circular and conscious connected breathing techniques,
Reichian, and Bioenergetic exercises, awareness expanding processes, inner
dialogue methods and more. Integration and unification results as blocks are
cleared and personal power is reclaimed by the individual.
Why Breathwork?
Breathwork is the most powerful energy of breathing available. It uses the mind-body connection to access “the story” and its underlying, unresolved roots. You will learn to use the power of the trance state and the breath to bring a dynamic awakening for yourself. These workshops are designed to teach people skills necessary to integrate and knit their life and spiritual health together.
The Breath is the meeting ground between the conscious and the unconscious mind. Early in life, we learn to suppress our emotions physically by tensing muscles and restricting breath. Over time, this protective process becomes chronic and automatic and we lose the capacity to experience and express emotions. This repression can sap our vitality and rob us of the ability to experience the positive feelings of love, joy, and pleasure.
The Breath has been found to be the precise key to activating the body’s natural healing resources. It has the ability to influence and even reprogram automatic reactions of the nervous system. The breathing techniques trigger a natural process of cleansing and purifying in both the body and the psyche. Through this powerful process, change happens on the conscious, unconscious, and cellular levels.
You will learn through your own experience to connect to your inner healing powers, eliminating self-sabotaging emotional patters and connecting to life in the present moment. This takes you to places of discovering our own personal power and manifesting our vision personally and professionally. Once we release our blocked energy of birth trauma and years of emotional suppression, a deep new vitality begins to pour forth. We discover our essence, our soul!
“The word BREATH implies more than the physical act of drawing air in and out of the lungs. Breath is the junction point between mind, body, and spirit. Every change of mental state is reflected first in the breath and then in the body.” - Deepak Chopra

Breath Therapy whether used inside or in the hot tub is one of the most powerful, healing, personal growth and self-empowerment modalities available. Achieved through mental, emotional, physical and spiritual integration, it is a method of teaching, guiding and assisting each individual to a deeper connection to the Self. Contained within the simple act of using the mechanism of the breath is the potential for creating permanent, positive life changes through an awareness and awakening of body consciousness. From this place of connection, all healing occurs. The breath works with the human organism in a way that is completely natural and organic. What is ready to be released or needs to change will surface on its own and the facilitator has the role of safely and effectively supporting this process. With this method, it is possible to heal the physical body by relieving stress and chronic tension that cause dis-ease, release deep and long held emotions that keep us disconnected from ourselves and others, or clear out old beliefs that define and limit us.
Breathing is the key ingredient in physical, emotional and mental health. It is a grossly underestimated source of life giving, healing and purifying energy. When we breathe, we take in more than just physical substances. An interaction takes place between our inner selves and the surrounding reality. It is essential, therefore, both for physical and psychological well-being that our breathing is optimal. It unifies and integrates the body, mind and spirit.
The average person breathes between 18,000 and 20,000 breaths per day, averaging 5,000 gallons of air. 70% of the body's toxins are eliminated during the breathing process with only a small percentage eliminated through perspiration, defecation and urination. Only 10% of the nutrition needed by the body comes from the food we eat while 90% comes from the oxygen we breathe. We need oxygen to fuel our brains and metabolize our food.
Clinical studies show the immense benefit of paying attention to how we breathe. A study done in a Coronary Care unit at a Minneapolis hospital examined 153 heart attack patients to determine the breathing patterns (deep belly or tight chest breathing.) The study found that ALL of the patients were chest breathers. In Holland , two groups of heart attack patients were studied. The first group was taught simple Diaphragmatic breathing to counteract chest breathing. The second group was given suggestions for changes in diet and exercise only. The first group had no further heart attacks while 7 out of the 12 from the second group had repeat heart attacks.
Breathing in a full and relaxed fashion returns the body from a destructive acidic chemical state which is the breeding ground for disease to a normal alkaline condition. This shift from operating in chronic stress to a mode of relaxed awareness can lower the blood pressure, increase circulation, detoxify the body, boost the immune system, reduce physical and emotional stress, and naturally increase the life force energy. Breathing to full capacity, promotes mental clarity, creates new Neuro-pathways in the brain, and expands consciousness, as well as enhancing the cellular, hormonal and psychological processes.
“Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born.”
